14.04.02: Autobus Café, rue Oberkampf / rue Amelot
There's just no way around it: talking with Jaime was not unlike the teeth-extracting I had to do at Créteil. As someone who walks around making all sorts of "observations," I don't expect too much in the way of substantive conversation from it. But the occasional reaction, signs of life, yes. Jaime simply had nothing spontaneous to say. He'd often prepare of mini-speech of sorts, but once it was delivered, that was it. We had a pleasant enough time at the Musée des Arts et Métiers, but whatever discussion we were having over lunch afterward at Chez Suen was exhibit A. Luckily he was still intent on visitng the Modern Art Museum at Beaubourg, so I brought him over, showed him how to get back to my place, and took off on my own for some down-time. A quick coffee at one of the cafés in my neighbourhood did the trick. I think the deep-blue hokey wall decorations may have even had a calming effect.
