25.02.02: Au Canon de la Nation, rue du Faubourg St. Antoine / Place de la Nation I was on just enough of a roll with my research that it felt like the right time for a non-research trip to Madrid -- especially since I'd found an very low and absurdly flexible direct fare on the SNCF website, which even the ticket agent didn't know much about. Unfortunately, hostel in Madrid was booked up for the next few weeks, so I sucked up the 10-euro penalty, refunded my train ticket, and went to grab a coffee on the way home. Can't say what exactly attracted me to this hashed-out place at charmless Nation, but I did hang around long enough to be bothered by some dude interested in my newspaper.
