03.04.01: La Liberté, rue de la Gaité / boulevard Edgar Quinet
The Dostoyevsky saga continues. Here I begin the meisterwerk, the novel to end all novels, The Brothers Karamazov. Alright, I exaggerate (particularly as I still haven't finished it). This is all to pass time before heading out to meet Sue and Vince at the south end of the line 13 métro. Prof. Gibault had popped her head into the lecteurs' office (this about a week after I finally ended the anti-drama of our having not yet met) offering tickets for a James Baldwin play -- more like a monologue -- being performed at a theatre out in a village-y suburb. Altogether fun, certainly getting us to see an artsy bit of Paris beyond the walls that would otherwise remain totally unknown. Plus we managed to get in the requisite mad dash for the last métro.
