01.04.02: Café Fontaine, Place Gambetta
What happens when you get your parents out for a long day's walk through some of the more "menacing" parts of Paris? Pretty much nothing out of the ordinary (April Fool's?), but a certain sense of satisfaction about taking these tourists to some of the less touristed but ultimately more representative parts of town. Up to the lookout at the Parc de Belleville, salads on the sidewalk of a busy café without much appeal, a stroll through the Père Lachaise cemetary (okay, that one's less than off-the-beaten-track), and a refresher coffee in another village-y nook of the 20e. I'm pretty sure we managed to walk it all the way home, in fact.
