21.09.00: Le Solférino, boulevard St. Germain / rue de Solférino
It may or may not be the fall equinox today (I can never remember when it doesn't fall right on the 21st). This is largely irrelevant, however, as my main objective right now is to find a toilet. Paris has its share of public toilets, some free, most not; the truth is not a single one of them is available for actual use. But after only a few days in town I don't really have the system down, and I fall back on the restaurant restroom plan. Unfortunately, my North American mores tell me that I have to buy before I use, and so my first café coffee turns out to be a fairly rushed affair at this otherwise very sedate place, where the need for relief can be finally ignored no longer.
