I often get seized with ac OCD-like need to confirm or disconfirm bits of information that have me dropping everything and doing some very good if spastic research. Having just finished The Idiot, I was somehow convinced that I had seen Holbein's Christ, which is on the cover of my edition and is discussed at a crucial moment in the novel, at the Louvre. Couldn't find it. But it sure it sunny, and I've got Freud's Moses and Monotheism with me, which I've been meaning to get into for awhile now, so a café by the river it is. When I later wrote to Joe about how this whole day was more or less an act of despair, he was impressed.
