12.06.02: Au Bec Salé, rue de la Roquette / rue Pétion
Since she began work at the ANPE (state unemployment office -- Avec Nous Peu d'Espoir 'with us not much hope'), Nathalie had been very intent on having me join her for her state-endowed lunch hour. Ruth and I had also been trying to get together for the past little while, so the two of us went out to the 20e to meet Nathalie for some reasonable Chinese food. While she had to go back to work, Ruth and I pretty much blew off whatever we each had planned for the afternoon and wound up having a terrific time rambling through the Père Lachaise cemetery -- normally an all-too-predicatable prospect, but today it worked. It was one of those things where as the end drew near, we were having more and more interesting times together. Oh, but there was still a little drama to come -- see below. In the meantime, I convinced her she could use a coffee before tagging along with me to buy a pair of Euro-Converse.
