13.11.00: L'Armagnac, rue de Charonne / rue Jules Vallès
In our various walks around his neighborhood, Serge had repeatedly mentioned this café as a place he thought I'd like, and I was never sure whether to be offended by that or not. I'm not sure how I ended up here today, probably a time-killer between Créteil and Yiddish (I always managed to make deciding what to do with those Monday afternoon hours a particular chore). All I know is I did spend quite some time here, and wound up pouring onto the page, in Yiddish, a whole dissertation on what had gone on this past weekend, trying to figure out whether I was really re-smitten. It was all confusing enough to have me nearly ditch Yiddish class itself (though we had worked on my homework together the night before), but when the writing paused and I asked for the time, it was exactly five to seven.
