01.11.01: Le Paris, boulevard Richard-Lenoir / rue St. Sabin
Last year, Toussaints had been an early island of calm in the storm of the fall term at Paris-XII. This year, it's a slow-paced meander out in the mid-autumn sun for some Yiddish reading. Sara had recommended this café to me once, but by this point the diner-y naugahyde feel had been replaced by a slick black décor more in step with the Bastille area, which, as best described in Joe's guidebook, "has the hashed-out and has-been feel of a glam band of the same era that's 'still rockin'. Look out for vomiting Dutch tourists."
