29.10.01: Café du Théâtre, rue d'Oursel / rue Dancourt
If one weekly conflict last year involved where to spend the Monday afternoon hours between teaching at Paris-XII and learning Yiddish at Médem, this year Créteil was replaced by Clichy, and a three-hour day of English by a seven-hour marathon of Persian. A positive aspect was that since I was with bicycle, and the general route took me through Montmarte, it would be easier to just set down somehwere at random. Problem was the wasted and wounded feeling that a full day at INALCO left me with. Needless to say I wound up skipping Yiddsh a few times, and for that matter I stopped going to Persian after five weeks (although I didnšt admit to having truly dropped it until getting back in January). In this second week, though, I still had my act together, and after the enthralling late-afternoon grammar session I grabbed a bite and sat with my Yiddish homework at the café opposite an unduly picturresque square and theatre.
