04.08.01: Le Café, rue Tiquetonne / rue Étienne Marcel
Calling one of their models Le Car must have been novel and amusing enough to someone for Renault to use it in the North American market. But with every other building in Paris named Le [insert street address], how much "irony" could there be to dubbing this place Le Café? That said, I don't recall ever seeing another anywhere else in town, even though some names seem to recur in the café population as often as some personal names. Tonight I hung out here with Pollie, Mike, and Nick, who would be heading back to America the next day. Being just off the rue Montorgueuil, I'm not sure whether this place was as hip as it seemed to want to be. But maybe that's a criticism one could make about many places in Paris.
