17.07.01: Le Parvis, rue St. Martin / rue Aubry le Boucher
I've taken to doing my translations for The Joint in the library at Beaubourg - no rigamarole to get in, open stacks of less-than-rarefied books, and guys washing their feet in the restrooms. But I seem to refuse to remember that all of Pompidou is closed Tuesdays. So in a doubly-bold move I head to the café directly en face, and whip out the laptop. For that matter, it's a doubly-strange café: you order at the bar, and the place closes at 8 pm. Nothing to do but check my messages and ride on over to meet the parents and Archibalds for the finest of Parisian Kosher dining.
