07.09.01: Dizengoff Café, rue Richer / rue de la Boule Rouge
If nothing else, having Josh and Leah as guests forced me to confront the vast world of kosher eating beyond the rue des Rosiers, incluuding some things right in my neighbourhood. We all knew about the rue des Rosiers in the 4e, but I only had vague notions the possibilities in my own part of town, and for that matter of the high concentration of joints in the 9e. Josh's holy grail was kosher pizza, and although I knew of one reknowned place in that neighbourhood, we just couldn't find it, and wound up returning to the place I'd been to with Tanya and Jim. With Leah joining us the next day, though, things were not as simple, since she saw Paris as a heaven for "Sephardic" cuisine. Much hunger and frustration later -- especially since kosher places don't tend to stay open very late on Friday afternoons -- pizza and what not right across the street from the Folies Bergères.
