07.04.02: Mecano Bar, rue Oberkampf
Yes, I rely a little too much on my friends to make things happen for me. But like I've said before, it's just very satisfying to react, to just up and go, when I've been called. As spring kicked in for this Sunday, Thierry rang me to see what we might wander off to do (Valia must have been plaugging away at her thesis). I'd never have suggested brunch at this place, better known as a centre of gravity for the whole overhyped Oberkampf scene, but I'm glad to chalk it up as a result. And having said that, it's an attractive space, even if it does overplay the post-industrial shtick. What was more disappointing was the fact that I couldn't get myself to stay and hang out alone with the cute Bulgarians we ran into later at Café Charbon.
