08.05.01: Rital & Courts, rue des Envierges This would probably be the first café I can attribute directly to having come upon in the TimeOut Book of Paris Walks. The 20e is still largely unknown territory to me at this point, but somehow Ken and I trek out here on our joint day off, just in time to grab a seat on on a very understatedly grand terrasse at the top of Parc de Belleville, itself kind of an odd wonder. Although it's billed as a cinema-cum-restaurant showing shorts in the back, I never quite figure out that scene. What I do manage to experience, though, is getting shat upon by some hostile pigeon hovering on the ledge. Does he not know about the agreement?
