21.11.01: Les Petits Tonneaux, rue du Faubourg du Temple / rue Yves Toudic
Sue had gone back to England fairly early in the summer to put some money in the bank before her year in South America. Vince, however, was still working on experiments for his thesis, so he and I spent some good evenings over a good number of pints through the summer months. Sue was back in town this weekend, however, so we all met up for dinner, along with Mark and Pollie, at Chez Prune -- not the best choice for a full-on meal, but a fun enough place to be (Josh and Leah were still with me, of course, but by now they were dead set against going any place with smokers, that is, anything besides synagogues and people's homes, so they didn't come out). After dinner we spent the inevitable 20 minutes wandering around for a place to get a drink -- group dynamics are such that no one wants to take responsibility or feel that they're forcing everyone to go along with them, so no one suggests anything very forcefully. As we saunter dangerously close to République, however, we manage to agree on a this non-descript but fully acceptable café.
